What We Collect
When you use Rate My Band Name, we may collect the following:
- Band names you submit for rating
- Reviews and ratings you write, along with any display name you choose
- IP addresses, automatically collected with each request
- Vote actions (upvotes/downvotes on bands and reviews)
We do not collect email addresses, passwords, or any account information. There is no user registration.
How We Use It
- IP addresses are used to deduplicate votes (one vote per IP per band/review) and to rate-limit submissions
- Band names and reviews are displayed publicly on the site
- Review content is passed to Google's Gemini AI for content moderation before being published
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase — database storage for band names, reviews, and votes
- Google Gemini — AI scoring and content moderation. Band names and review text are sent to Google's API for processing
Data Retention
Band names and reviews are stored indefinitely as part of the public leaderboard. IP addresses are stored alongside votes and submissions and are not automatically deleted. If you would like your data removed, contact us.
